RUBBER CABLES FAQs
The robustness-flexibility tandem makes the XTREM® H07RN-F rubber cable ideal for supplying electrical power in the most demanding installations:
Industry, construction.
Mining industry, oil, gas.
Wind turbines.
Portable or audio-visual engines and mobile equipment.
Agricultural establishments.
Caravans or caravan parks.
Submersible pumps and drinking water.
Aquaculture, fish farms, shrimp farms, and “living” water (with presence of micro-organisms and aquatic species).
Deep wells.
Mobile equipment: cranes, construction equipment and heavy machinery.
Marine applications: power generation on ships.
Power cables for hand-held power tools (e.g. welding machines) and small electrical appliances.
This type of cables are prescribed for provisional installations, in elevation machines and transport in the open air. In general, it is indicated for all mobile service applications with strong mechanical demands.
To buy XTREM® H07RN-F rubber cable in drums of various formats or 100 metre drums, please consult our sales conditions for Electrical Distributors and Wholesalers here. We can also put you in touch with your nearest Top Cable distributor.
Each cable has a standardised designation. The letters and numbers refer to the cable outer sheath, other outer sheath, the conductor class, the rated voltage and the final composition of the cable. In the case of H07RN-F, the letters stand for:
H: conforms to a harmonised standard.
07: rated voltage 450/750V.
R: EPR insulation.
N: polychloroprene (PCP) sheath.
-F: flexible conductor (class 5).
Here you can find more information on the designation of electrical cables.
Top Cable’s XTREM® H07RN-F cable has been manufactured using improved polymers with respect to the specifications of the EN 50525-2-21 / IEC 60092-353 / IEC 60245 standard, thus presenting a higher temperature and voltage rating than those indicated in the standard:
Maximum conductor temperature: 90°C. >>(the standard indicates 60°C).
Maximum short-circuit temperature: 250°C, for a maximum of 5 seconds. >>(the standard indicates 200°C).
Minimum service temperature: -40°C static with protection >>(standard indicates -25ºC).
Presence of water: AD8 (submerged) >> (the standard indicates AD6, temporary).
The XTREM® H07RN-F cable has extreme flexibility and excellent resistance to extreme temperatures, abrasion and impact and can be installed permanently submerged in water (AD8):
Rubber insulation is known for its ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions and its resistance to ageing and abrasion. Therefore, rubber cables (type H07RN-F) have an outstanding flexibility and resistance to extreme temperatures, superior to cables with XLPE insulation (type RV-K).
Over time, the sheath of a rubber cable behaves better to the effect of solar radiation and cold-hot-cold climatic variations, avoiding the presence of cracks on its surface, which may deepen with the passage of time. Cracking of the sheath may cause the conductors to become exposed to the air and degrade, leaving the copper of the conductor exposed, with the possibility of direct or indirect contact and the consequent risk of electrocution for a person. If the cable has to be subjected to bending and twisting movements, the effect of the cracks or cracking of the sheath increases, reaching the insulation of the conductors and, if the insulation of the conductors has given way, also causing a short-circuit due to the contact of the two conductors. Due to its characteristics, a rubber cable does not present this problem.

XTREM® H07RN-F cable is a flexible and robust rubber cable ideal for power transmission in both fixed installation or mobile service.
Welding Cable is a portable cable that features a very finely stranded conductor for flexibility. It is designed for use in arc-welding machines to power electrodes. However, it is also often used as a power cable or battery cable. Most welding cable is resistant to flame, grease, abrasion, tear, and oil. Because of their flexibility and versatility, welding cables are used in a wide variety of applications.
While welding cable is specifically designed for use in secondary voltage resistance welding leads, its flexibility and rubber insulation make it ideal for many other types of applications. However, it is also suitable for use in power supply applications, electrode connecting, automotive starters, battery grounds, welder leads, and other welding applications that do not exceed 600V.
Welding cables are typically made of a stranded copper conductor and a rubber jacket that acts as insulation
A rubber cable is an electrical cable that is insulated with rubber, which provides flexibility, durability, and resistance to various environmental factors. They are suitable for use outdoors and in challenging environments. Sometimes these cables are called neoprene insulated cables or polychloroprene cables.
The rubber that covers the cables is typically referred to as “insulation”. This insulation protects the conductive wires inside from environmental factors, prevent electrical shocks, and ensure safe operation.
Rubber cables are extremely flexible, robust and resistant. They are widely used in industrial areas and in installations requiring cables subject to constant bending and twisting movements. Rubber cables are resistant to oils, water, ozone, ageing and abrasion, and are designed for intensive use in industrial equipment, heavy tools, battery chargers, portable lights and extension cords. They are also recommended for machines, cranes and dock power applications or where water immersion is required.
The robustness-flexibility tandem makes rubber cables ideal for supplying electrical power in the most demanding installations:
Industry, construction.
Mining industry, oil, gas.
Wind turbines.
Portable or audio-visual engines and mobile equipment.
Agricultural establishments.
Caravans or caravan parks.
Submersible pumps and drinking water.
Aquaculture, fish farms, shrimp farms, and “living” water (with presence of micro-organisms and aquatic species).
Deep wells.
Mobile equipment: cranes, construction equipment and heavy machinery.
Marine applications: power generation on ships.
Power cables for hand-held power tools (e.g. welding machines) and small electrical appliances.
Yes, the XTREM® H07RN-F cable can be installed permanently submerged in water (AD8).
Yes, all Top Cable rubber cables can be installed outdoors.
Thanks to its extraordinary flexibility and strength, rubber cables are designed to supply power in fixed and mobile service installations, such as industrial installations, electric motors and equipment, wind turbines, cranes, heavy tools, generator sets, and submersible pumps in deep water installations, among others.
Our rubber flexible cables are manufactured to be flame-non propagator, effectively preventing the spread of fire in the event of a short-circuit or other electrical fault. These flame non-propagation properties are based on EN 60332-1 and IEC 60332-1. According European norm CPR EN 50575, their reaction to fire is Eca.
The conductor temperature of Top Cable’s rubber cables is -40ºC +90°C and the maximum short-circuit temperature is 250°C.
