Benefits of solar cables
TOPSOLAR® is the best cable choice for demanding and hazardous PV environments. Our cables deliver outstanding flexibility, durability, and resistance to environmental factors such as sand abrasion, UV radiation, water, and extreme temperatures—while fully meeting the most stringent international PV standards.
Typical applications of SOLAR CABLES
Solar cables for PV rooftop installations
Rooftop solar installations demand EN 50618-compliant PV cables offering exceptional UV/weather resistance, flexibility, and AD8 (submerged) waterproof protection. For string systems, specify H1Z2Z2-K-rated cables with tinned copper conductors, double-insulated rubber outer sheath, and mechanical robustness. These solutions guarantee 25+ year performance in extreme temperatures (-40°C to 90°C) while meeting CPR Cca fire-safety standards for fire protection.
Solar cables for PV plants
Global solar projects executed by EPCs, developers, and installers require high-performance cabling solutions. Our portfolio includes: H1Z2Z2-K cables with tinned copper conductor and double-insulated rubber outer sheath for string systems; medium-voltage cables for grid interconnections; and aluminum power cables for balance-of-system components—all engineered for durability, efficiency, and compliance in utility-scale and distributed generation applications.
Solar cables for PV floating plants
Floating solar power plants demand specialized PV cables engineered for unique aquatic environments. These cables combine extreme UV resistance , AD8 (submersion) waterproofing, and extreme flexibility for wave movement. With reinforced mechanical protection against mosture and abrasion our PV compliant solutions ensure 25+ year performance in freshwater reservoirs, coastal lagoons, and hydroelectric-coupled installations worldwide.

Solar cables FAQS (Frequent asked questions)
Solar cables are used as interconnect cables for solar panels and photovoltaic arrays in a solar power grid. Solar power cables can also be used in underground entrances and service terminal connections. Be sure to check cables for compatibility with grounded or ungrounded systems. In general, USE-2 Wire may only be used with grounded circuits. Photovoltaic Wire (PV Wire) can be used in both grounded and ungrounded solar installations.
We offer different types of solar power cables, in compliance with the most relevant international PV norms: H1Z2Z2-K string PV cables, Aluminium PV cables, Medium Voltage X-VOLT® cables for PV, Cables for PV Auxiliary services, Fiber Optic cables for PV Communication services, and specific cables for PV Floating installations.
H1Z2Z2-K cables are specifically designed for string inverters according to EN 50618/ IEC 62930 / UTE C 32-502 standard and are suitable for both fixed and mobile solar installations. They are specially suitable for the connection between photovoltaic panels, and from the panels to the inverter from direct to alternating current. TOPSOLAR® H1Z2Z2-K is compatible with all major connectors.
Solar cable H1Z2Z2-K is most common in 4mm2 and 6mm2 (12 gauge AWG wire), but cable size may vary based on specific factors such as resistance and flow.
In large solar farms, sun energy is directly transformed into electrical energy. Solar cables are used to connect solar panels to inverters and other components in a PV system for use at high temperatures and all kinds of weather conditions. Since the cable volume in these installations is quite high, it is essential to use the appropriate cables with the maximum performance, and make sure they comply with EN 50618 Standard.
Solar cables are specifically engineered to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, UV rays exposure, extreme temperature fluctuations and moisture, ensuring durability and longevity in PV installations (rooftop, pv plants, floating plants) in compliance with solar standard EN 50618.
Learn some tips for the correct maintenance of solar cables in this post of our blog. The most common solar cable issues are:
• Loose Connections
• Damaged Cables
• Corrosion
• Overheating
• Water Ingress
Solar cables are specifically designed to have excellent UV resistance properties, which is crucial for their performance and longevity in outdoor environments. The UV resistance properties of solar cables are critical for ensuring that they perform effectively and reliably in solar power systems exposed to sunlight.
